The Gospel

The word "Gospel" means good news. One of the greatest verses in our Bible is John 3:16.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

In this verse we have the:

The greatest person -------- God
The greatest love      -------- God's love
The greatest number  ------ World (everyone)
The greatest gift   ------------ His Son
The greatest simplicity  ---- Believing (trusting)
The greatest deliverance -- Not perish
The greatest blessing  ------ Everlasting life

The Bible tells us that we are sinners. Romans 3:23 plainly states that all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. The wages of sin is death (Rom 6:23) which includes eternal separation from God. We are helpless to save ourselves but the good news is that God has provided salvation through His Son.The Lord Jesus, on the cross, paid the great price when He give Himself a sacrifice for sin so that we might be saved and have everlasting life. If you take the place God gives you as a lost, guilty and helpless sinner and put your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ in virtue of His finished work on the cross you will be saved.

Just as I am, without one plea,
But that Thy blood was shed for me,
And that Thou bidst me come to Thee,
