DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DEC 22

Psalms 61:1-3
Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.

There are times when God's people go through deep trials and the heart becomes overwhelmed. However we have a great resource and that is God Himself. He is our rock and our refuge in is Him. Whether it is trials, persecution, Satanic attack etc. the Lord is our shelter and strong tower. Like the psalmist may we cry out unto him.

Why do you live your life in bondage and fear,
Letting this world get you down?
Put your trust in the Savior who will always be near,
And He'll set your feet on higher ground.

Lead me to the Rock, lead me to the Rock,
Lead me to the Rock that is higher.
Won't you...
Lead me to the Rock, lead me to the Rock,
Lead me to the Rock that is higher than I.

Remember to focus on the Lord Jesus.

Luke 22:44
And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

Remember to take time in the Word

Psalms 119:28
My soul melteth for heaviness: strengthen thou me according unto thy word.

Psalms 61

1 <<To the chief Musician upon Neginah, A Psalm of David.>> Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.

2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

3 For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.

4 I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.

5 For thou, O God, hast heard my vows: thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name.

6 Thou wilt prolong the king's life: and his years as many generations.

7 He shall abide before God for ever: O prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him.

8 So will I sing praise unto thy name for ever, that I may daily perform my vows.

Remember to pray

Psalms 4:1
Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.
