Psalms 23:1
¶ The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
This beautiful psalm begins by David bringing before us the wonderful fact that the Lord is his shepherd and because of this truth He knows all his needs will be met. As the good shepherd Jesus died for the sheep and promises His own that they will never perish.
John 10:11
I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
John 10:28
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
Presently as the great shepherd of the sheep He cares for us continuously.
Hebrews 13:20
Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Jesus is our Shepherd,
Wiping ev'ry tear,
Folded in His bosom,
What have we to fear?
Only let us follow
Whither He doth lead,
To the thirsty desert,
Or the dewy mead
